Deborah Gooch's work looks great in the studio. The intensity of color and drawing are first rate and her quirky humor makes me smile throughout the day. I have to say I have a favorite, Practice.
It might have to come and live at our house! If you didn't get a chance to see them stop by the studio Tuesday to Friday 1 to 5.
Dennis Afiery's new paintings of the sand ridges near Jupiter are terrific. The large painting, Burnt Over Scrub, 60 x 61, is the first thing you see as you walk into the studio. Suddenly you aren't in downtown Stuart surrounded by concrete anymore, but walking up a high ridge, working your way through new palmettos and broom sedge in colors you've never really seen out there before, and yet, as you look at it now make total sense. Dennis talks about being there completely, in a particular moment. And here we too are there.
